Electric all the way?

Car choice effects the planet.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming more popular, thanks to their lower running costs, environmental benefits, and tax incentives. However, there are also some drawbacks to consider, such as the higher upfront cost and limited charging infrastructure.

Advantages of an EV:

  • Lower running costs: EVs can be much cheaper to run than petrol or diesel cars, as they use electricity instead of fuel.

  • Environmental benefits: EVs produce zero emissions, which can help to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Tax incentives: There are a number of tax incentives available for EV owners, such as reduced road tax and company car tax.

  • Electric vehicles have instant power, which means they can potentially accelerate faster than internal combustion engine (ICE) cars from a standstill.

Disadvantages of an EV:

Higher upfront cost: EVs are typically more expensive to purchase than petrol or diesel cars.

  • Limited charging infrastructure: The number of public charging points for EVs is still relatively limited, although this is improving all the time.

  • Range anxiety: Some people may be concerned about the range of an EV, and whether it will be enough for their needs.

Despite the drawbacks, the benefits of electric vehicles are compelling. As the charging infrastructure improves and the range of EVs increases, they will become an even more attractive option for drivers.
